With the summer months fast approaching, we thought we’d pull together a list of the very best things to see and do when staying with us at our Roomzzz Apartments in Manchester, Leeds and Newcastle over the coming months.

Starting with Leeds, here is just a small selection on the latest goings on.

Those seeking a little more culture should look no further than the Northern Art Prize at Leeds Art Gallery

Celebrating contemporary visual artists based in the North of England, the Northern Art Prize has established itself as an important award – recognised nationally as a relevant profiler of artists working in the North East, North West and Yorkshire regions.

Thu 28 Mar 2013 – Sun 16 Jun 2013

If you are looking to treat your dad this Father’s Day then why not head to Harewood House witch is gearing up to Father’s Day Classic Motor Show with hundreds of vintage and classic cars to admire. On the day there’ll be a full arena programme showcasing all the vehicles and prizes will be given out at the end of the day for best in class.

Moving across the Pennines, those of you heading to Manchester are in for a treat, with a wealth of cultural, musical and sporting events all taking place over the coming month.

Here are just a few to whet the appetite.

For the musical lovers amongst you, why not check out the fabulous production of Dirty Dancing?

On at Manchester’s Palace Theatre from 21 May – 15 June 2013, Dirty Dancing is an unprecedented live experience, exploding with heart-pounding music, passionate romance and sensationally sexy dancing.

If musicals aren’t to your taste, how about some all out rock?

Southern US rock siblings Kings of Leon will be playing two shows at Manchester Arena on 24 and 25 June 2013. The performances will start at 19:30 on both nights. The Tennessee quartet will be performing tracks from their sixth studio album, alongside hits from their decade-plus rock back catalogue.

For those of you heading to our favourite city in the North East (Newcastle for those of you who don’t know!), there is plenty for you to do over the coming month.

World famous musical Cats is making an appearance at the Sunderland Empire.

One of the longest-running shows in West End and Broadway history, Cats has enchanted audiences in over 300 cities around the world – now you too have the chance to experience this legendary musical phenomenon.

With an amazing musical score that includes the timeless Memory, spectacular set designs, stunning costumes and breath taking choreography, Cats is a magical musical like no other.

Regressing along the evolutionary chain, we segway nicely from Cats to Dinosaurs with the Natural History Museum exhibition – Age of the Dinosaur – visiting Newcastle’s Life Science Centre

Be transported back to the Jurassic and Cretaceous periods. Age of the Dinosaur, a Natural History Museum exhibition, gives you a glimpse of life as it was 65 million years ago.

Featuring around 50 real specimens, realistic models, CGI, full-scale animatronics and stunning film footage, Age of the Dinosaur paints an evocative picture and tells a compelling scientific story of a vital period in Earth’s history.
